on new years eve–care to wager a guess as to why?
was jefke…..
- so loaded from 5 rapid back to back martini’s?
- knocked out by a well placed right hook from natty when he commented that he “accidentally noticed ‘that chick wasn’t wearing any underwear’ “?
- in bed, hopped up on nyquil b/c of a killer cold he caught in CT
yep, i’m still a rocker, and i was on the ‘quil and trying to sleep before 9, the capt got the cold worse than i did, the poor little guy. still has it pretty bad too. man parenting is fun!
So it’s been a while my internet friends, i guess i’ll have to review the last month to get you up to speed.
before i get to anything else, everyone raise a glass and congratulate natty on her completion of nursing school. her last final was last tuesday and her “pinning ceremony” (no not like that, dirtbag) was last thursday. all she has to do is pass her boards and then she’ll be all official. she’s worked very hard for a very long time (almost 5 years if you include the pre-req’s) and i’m not sure either of us can believe it’s actually over. she has a job lined up already and i’m trying to imagine life as a dual income family (though the loans and childcare are going to fucking hurt). but anyway we’re all very proud or her here at the fort and you should be too.
in other fun parenting news, about 3 weeks ago, i was preparing the capt’s bath, i started to add the bubbles, which is always quite a highlight for the capt, he was over on the other side of the bathroom, and when he saw the mr. bubble bottle come out, he came running over to see the “bubblus” as he says.
well on the way he tripped on a shopping bad and then WHACKED his 2 front teeth on the side of the tub. there was about .3 seconds of silence, and then i went “ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” and then the fun started, the capt (rightly) flipped out, I grabbed him to see if he had bitten through his lip or some thing. for a moment i pondered letting the tub continue to fill, but then realize the level of upset and turned off the water. i brought him down to natty and he was in fully on coughing, crying, wheezeing meltdown mode. later we noticed that he chipped the bottoms of his front teeth. could have been worse–he could have knocked the fuckers out, so i guess we’re lucky. scary shit though.
work’s been sorta busy lately too, which is a change for me. I’m pretty much done with the DFTU client and on a new one. we had a big presentation to give on the 20th, so i did a day trip up to the nyc area. for 6+ hours on the train, i have almost nothing to report on. sad, very sad, i’m definitely losing my blogging ability.
for xmas we packed up the crew and headed to my parent’s compound in CT. all things considered it went pretty well. the capt is much better with the car ride thing now than he was when he was younger. on the way up we were making incredible time until we hit traffic by the meadowlands. i”ve always hated that place, but getting stuck in an hour’s worth of traffic b/c giants fans area all cocksuckers and can’t seem to comprehend the concept of lanes merging after a toll plaza just sweetens the my feelings. ugh.
then double timed it on the last leg of the journey on the hutch/merritt and was a bit too agressive on the curves and made henry puke–(sorry man), but we arrived in one piece.
Xmas itself was ok-a bit hectic with kids and parents and grand parents, we headed in to nyc the day after to show the capt around. ACW’s post on DC tourists translates very well to NYC tourists at rockafeller and central park, so i won’t repeat. all in all it was a mad house and we found ourselves trying to decide what to do in nyc. which is a problem we had when we lived there. it was almost like, there’s so much to do, there’s really nothing to do. ’should we head to the village and eat there?–man that’d be a hassel”, “ugh the met is up in the 80’s that’s too far” so we ended up trying to go to the zoo in central park but it was closing, and then just went around the park to try to allow the capt some nap time. funny, you wouldn’t think it, but it’s hard to find a quiet place for a baby to nap in the big apple. lesson learned.
then back home to the fort and the capt and i have colds and that’s about it. for a week-plus off, i got nothing done, the house is messier than before and natty’s about to start classes for her big licesning test, and all my hopes and dreams of getting my shit together are smashed. so anyway happy new year everybody. lets see if i can post a bit more this year.

I knocked my teeth out when I was 12. Glad to hear the captain only chipped them.
