so it’s been well documented that i drink a lot of diet coke. i like it, leave me alone
so about every 3rd week, my friends at the imperial corporation of cocacola run some sort of special where i am enticed to buy 3-4 12 packs of the cancer causing liquid for deeply reduced prices. there’s a perfect crossing of my addiction and my frugality, such that i’ll sometimes wait for the next special to stock up.
well this week i was out, and there was a special.
so i think it was tuesday, i got up and went to the superfresh before work. sure enough there was the display with me 3 12packs for 8 bucks (with club card only). i grabbed my shit, and then thought…. ‘what else do i need’
15 mins later my cart was full with:
- frosted chocolate poptarts
- baked ruffles sour cream and cheddar chips
- 3 celeste pizza’s for one
- a package of toll house ready to back mini chocolate chip cookies.
- a pack of english muffins
- 2 onion bagels
- oh and a 20 oz bottle of coke (the cans were not cold obviously)
as i got to the check out, i realized this was pretty much the exact cart i’d have 13 years ago when i was 20. well except they didn’t have baked ruffles then. oh adn i’d have been on regular coke, but fuck you get the picture.
i’ve come a long way baby

Want to hear something odd? We got a superfresh flyer in our local Mt. Airy paper last week and coke products were 5 for 10. Then, in Sunday’s Post, the same exact flyer, except coke products were 3 for 8. I thought Don was gonna have to argue to get the better price, but the small print on the local ad said the price was only good in Mt. Airy and like 2 other stores. But then when he went, they didn’t have the kinds we wanted anyway. So in the end, we didn’t end up getting such a great deal.
That story was better in my head, before I typed it. Sorry.

Yeah, I’m learning that these Fri-Sun only specials mean that you need to get what you want on Fri or Saturday at the latest. Come Sunday, none left.

The good news: I consulted with some Registered Dieticians, and Nutrasweet is far less likely to damage your brain than sugar. In fact, that crap Monsanto is spreading about it being chemically unable to cause brain problems looks like it’s true. It breaks down into fairly common ingredients in the stomach, so unless you’re the
