big, big day

January 20th, 2006 · 3 Comments

yesterday was a big big day kids, big day–

so the new dishwasher was scheduled to be delivered between 11-2, prime captain napping hrs. but oh well–as i predicted, as soon as natty settled in with him the guy showed up with the dishwasher. which in all fairness was the earliest in any "xx to yy" delivery range that any installer has shown up.

the installer dood was a man of few words, the rolled the dishwasher in, said "i’ll need you to clear out under the sink and that other cabinet too" and then just went to town. 45 mins later, we had a new dishwasher instlled. for my part i moved the old one out on the porch–no silly back porch, i know we live amongst the WT and all and part of me did want to put it in the front yard–but then i thought better. for better or worse we’re gonna try and sell the fucker, it works well enough but….

…the new one, although it doesn’t fit flush with the cabinets (apparently they’re framed poorly soyou can’t get the washer in all the way, imagine that) is already 100 times better, i can’t believe i ‘m gonna actually write about this–but the old machine had the most ass backwards impossible method for adding the rinse aid. this the one–just pour it in and the little aid gauge tells you not only if it’s full, but how much you have left. it’s the little things people.

Since i’m too lazy to post on the baby blog that hasn’t been updated in 5 months heres stuff that should be there but is here–you don’t like it? well suck it. i’m not gonna fight it anymore, i have no life so i post about what i know. we all knew this was coming…when i got a job i posted about that, when we got the house it was jefke’s home improvement blog–dog–samething. so now it’s a lazy father blog memoir.

The capt had his 6 month dr’s appointment. all is well-he’s slowed down in his butterball by 1  plan,  putting on a scant 1 lb 12 oz since his last appointment, oh he’s still a chunk chunk but he’s in the low 90’s in terms of percent tiles. not the high 90’s anymore. he grew an inch too-keeping him squarely in the not freakishly short, but certainly not tall category that my people do so well.

the big big news was that he got his first solid meal last night–well if you can call some sort of oatmeal stuff mixed with boob juice a solid meal. it looked, smelled and (ick) even tasted like cream of wheat–perhaps my hatered stemms from being moved off the boob way back when (highschool) but this isnt’ about me.

so we strapped the kid into his high tech highchair and we fed him, and he ate with out too much fuss. then we gave him some water in a bottle and well, now he’s eating. i’m not clear on what this all means–i guess we have to start stocking more mush around. it’ll be fun to go out for pizza and a couple beers with him–i guess that’ll be in a few weeks.  mush–>vegitable puree–>chili–>pizza i think i read that somewhere.

apparently the change from milk to food also changes the by products of eating and by that i mean the shit–it seems a double edged sword, i’m told to expect some pretty foul smelling stuff, but things are going to get, err more solid, which might be a good thing, the kid’s been having some serious blow outs lately–

if you’re not a parent this is boring and makes no sense to you. so go get busy and get pregnant, and we can have somethign to talk about.

i guess that’s about it. another milestone down–i think the next one is college. but i’ll have to check.

jesus did i just write an entire post about dishwashers, baby food and shit? christ

well it should be the thought of MY kid’s liquid shit that should motivate you to get it on…but i digress.

Give the kiddo credit- he actually gained 2 pounds, 12 ounces since the last visit, bringing him to 19 pounds, 12 ounces. Poor little guy also had to have four more shots, though he handled it rather well. Didn’t cry for too long, despite having missed the morning nap. No poop changes to report just yet.
