so for my first day on the new job, i went up to newly reinstated collegue jimmy’s house for my RAMP UP session. this entailed driving to new jersey, which actually wasn’t that bad at all. you see jim is not in northern jersey and by that i mean newark, it’s a damn shame that in my mind, and in the minds of most people, all of jeresy is thought of as being an infinite repeat of everying north of exit 13 on the NJ turnpike–but i digress.
it was a pleasant drive, the leaves are a changin’ and traffic was basically light–it seems that my ezpass is not longer valid, so i keep getting a “CALL SVRC CNTR” when ever i went through a toll. (it seems that i have had expass so damn long that they have upgraded the actual ezpass units, and they sent them to my old apartment, and by now someone it prolly in bora bora using the stored credit on them, or something).
at the northbound maryland toll i saw a semi with “HOOTER CHECK” written in to the dust on the side of the back…i flashed them…they didn’t seem to be too impressed.
as i crossed over to NJ, i threw Appitite for Destruction in to the changer and rocked out to that…it seemed fitting, i know it’s not jovi, or trixster or anything, but nevertheless. I wholeheartedly maintain that mr. brownstone is one of hte best songs ever written. hands down.
i won’t bore you all with the specifics of my RAMP UP other than to mention that jimmy took me out in his shiny red 1969 ford bronco. which was bad ass, it’s sort of a shame it’s not a gmc jimmy and all, but nevertheless the truck is pretty cool. we drove down a street which is home to not only Geraldo rivera’s house, but also jon bon jovi’s–i couldn’t really see them, but i’m telling you–that’s star power.
the trip home was uneventful, though when i stopped for gas the pumper dood, who was covered with terrible jailhouse looking tattoos, squiggied my sunroof, so that i could “see the eclipse”. i was a little nervous that he was talking in code about raping and killing me, but sure enough, later that night, i learned from world series announcers that an eclipse was going on…we went to “watch it”, it was interestng…i guess, but it took forever. i thought that maybe it was a once in a life time thing, but have since learned that it’ll happen again in 2007. oh well, still pretty cool.
so today…well today is my first at home work day. it’s pretty much as i remember it. quiet, the cats want me to pet them all teh time, and now with henry he wants me to let him out all the time.
i had a stoffers chicken pot pie for lunch, and i dunno what those scientists ahve been doing, but i microwaved it, adn the fucker was good. the crust was as good, if not better than out of the regular oven. all these years i’ve been waiting 65-70 mins for the potpie goodness, and i could have had it in 6-7 mins (at high)…a shame, a damn damn shame.
ps still have hte beard, it doesn’t itch as much, but looks totally stupid. i am going to try to make it to the weekend. but i have my doubts.
