the spam is out of control

ok,
that’s it

it’s too much. i’m gonna get the wheels of the move in motion.

people, there maybe some bumps in the road–i know all 4 of you come to expect-nay depend on your daily access to the world of jefke–well there just might be a couple days were the site might be down, er in transition.

i mean don’t get me wrong, in terms of spam, some of this shit is not so bad, the comment spam. i mean i love the pre-teen smut as much as the next guy, and some of the actual content of the comments is amusing–there was one yesterday that said “even a philosopher gets upset over a toothache”–i dunno sort of amusing.

nevertheless, i dont’ want that shit and i hate having to begin the day with having to erase 15 spam comments. now movable type 3.0, their new on, has features to stop this shit, but for what you pay for, it’s not worth it to me–i’m not all that happy with my webhost anyway. so my next best option is to go to the service that the movable type people have….but here are the steps i’d need to go through–each one has a ton of chances to go awry…

1) I already have a funtioning blog up at typepad.com, i need to mess with it, but my basic, human blogging need could be covered (i think it’s right above shelter on the heirarchy of needs)

2) i’ll need to switch the jefke.com registra–as the one i’m with now doesn’t allow the customization i need to direct www.jefke.com traffic to the typepad servers…that takes about 72 hrs at least.

3) Once i get the domain moved, then i’ll have to set up email with those people, as typepad doesn’t offer email…so there’s another chance for fuck ups.

4) then the dns records will have to propagate all over the interweb, that will take about 48-72 hrs. so then i’ll have this site, with no one accessing it. and everyone hitting typepad. ideally our email should roll over pretty easily, er at least i hope. then i just have to cancel my account wiht my existing webhost, and domain registration people.

no sweat right?

Does that include the bit about the pre-teen smut, Don?
