He’s still a senator, and he’s still doing his job. In an election year… his job is to run for re-election, or in this case, to run for the presidential nomination.
Just like, when the real campaign starts, GWB is still the president, even though most of his time will be spent palm-greasing.
Their staff picks up the slack.
That, or, maybe there’s some sort of temp agency… “Bill — Sally from the agency. Listen, I’m really excited about this one, lots of perqs, company car and secret service agents. It won’t turn into anything permanent, but it’ll open doors for you I’m sure. It’s right up your alley, and pays $7.60 an hour. Interested?”

I think the Canuck is right. They still have a job to do, but I guess they don’t do it as well. I wonder if my company will let me campaign for a bigger and better job openly?????
