It’s actually spelled acromegaly and it’s a condition where an adult produces an excess of growth hormone (an endocrine system dysfunction) resulting in physical symtoms such as enlarged hands, enlarged jaw, and a swollen tongue, among other things (I can show you a pic when you get home). The same condition in children results in gigantism (basically very tall kids), because they still have growth plates at the ends of their bones.
