I seem to have developed a post work routine on weekdays.
I get home. visit the bathroom. make a cocktail, and watch a bit of tv. oddly enough, i’ve started to enjoy HARDBALL on MSNBC. if i’m to believe everyone else, i am one of 4 people to do so. So here are some of my thoughts on the recent changes to cable news networks.
the smaller font on the ticker: I like it. I can successfully listen to someone bitch about Iraq and read at the same time. idunno why people are so bent out of shape about the tickers.
On these new “countdown” shows: I hate them, just give me the frickin events, don’t rank them, don’t hint at them every commercial (every 22 seconds), look i’m here to learn some shit, you don’t need to make it a game and try and trick me in to watching the whole show. for godsake, have some self respect. you’re belittling both of us.
On the town meeting type, person off the street shows. i don’t want to hear the voice of the common person, i am a common person, i’m surrounded by common people. i want experts, pundits, talking heads (hott ones if at all possible), i don’t need to see a studio full of chumps that came to see the CNN center and were offered a free pass to a “TV show”. there’s a reason why everyone can’t have a tv show……that’s what blogs are for.
On Name sake shows that are being hosted by other people. I dunno it weirds me out when Wolf blitzer is not doing his show, and then have someone filling in. just change the name of hte show until wolf gets back from his 9 week vacation. thanks, jefke.
On the loud conservative white man yelling at me shows. First is was that guy on fox, now MSNBC has one. ok ok ok, every group should have an outlet. that’s cool, i just change the channel when they get out of hand. but, seriously, do you have to yell so much? take it down a notch. oh wait, i get it, your core audience is made up of people with miracle ear implants…oops sorry my bad.
ok that’s it. end of line.

I guess that’s why I don’t watch those shows. It keeps me stupid and my stress levels much lower.
I do, on the other hand, watch the geek shows on TechTV and could go on and on about those.
