there are 2 luxuries, specifically that will signify to me that i have actually moved from my rather long pre adult life to being a full adult, (apart from a mortage and understanding tax shelters) first is a dishwasher…one that is mine and mine alone (i have lived in places with dishwashers before, but they were always just part of the place before i moved to the next place….get it?). 2) an ice maker in the freezer. oh sure it’s not very hard to just keep the trays full and maybe even load up a bin so that you have more than just 2 trays worth of ice at a time. but for me, those awkardly semi dumpling shaped ice cubes illustrate “freezer above bare minimum” which means “owner operator” rather than “leasee”…. yes if i have those 2 things, i will do my best to cross over to adulthood and stop saying “dood”
