hey kids, how are you?……good, glad to hear it. right so there is
something weird about the fact that my wife is the only one that complains
when i don’t update the site often enough. actually, i guess it makes
sense. kinda like when your girlfriend says your band is the best, when
you sing out of key and can’t keep the guitar in tune after the solo…shit,
i never had a girlfriend defend me in that light…
ok this is getting depresing. ok here’s the deal.
I’m working on jefke.com ver 2.0. and actually i’ve been working (all
professionally and shit) a shitload. last month was brutal, and this week
hasn’t been much better, although i can’t bill for it. but in the long
run it’s all good, and it’ll all even out.
aren’t you full time now jefke? ha well, no.
but that’s ok cuz at least i still have a job.
so what’s this jefke.com ver 2.0 i’m talking about? well way back when
i tried to get jefke.org going, i tried using a php based content management
solution called phpnuke. the site sucked, i didn’t know what i was doing
and well, no one ever went there. but being gadget happy as i am, i couldn’t
leave well enough alone, so i started messing with phppostnuke, another
open sourced CMS.
you still awake? i’ve been told this stuff is boring
right so anyway, i think it’s the way to go. although i’m nervous about
making the big switch…here’s why: 1) the site will look different, well
pastier actually. 2)Over the last couple years i have actually put alot
of work into this design, and it’s pretty much the way i want it. now
when i say put alot of time in, i don’t mean a lot of quality time. I
think the whole “work hard vs work smart” cliche fits well here. but nonetheless,
i have put some effort into this site, even if it doesn’t render perfectly
in Netscape 4.0 (grumble grumble).
So why change? i dunno, change is good, well as long as i don’t have
to leave the apartment. I’ve been able to integrate the chat boards right
into the main site, which is pretty slick. when i say ‘i’ integrated
the chat boards, i really mean a slew of 14 year old super computer nerds
that know php, but i still had to install it. The new site will have
the ability for me to post updates from anywhere is the world, which is
important, now that i don’t leave the apartment monday through friday.
but the capper, the really fucking cool dooodad that makes it all worth
it is, I can syndicate my shite to cormac.com (or anyone running phpnuke
or postnuke) which no effort. i mean, that’s just cool. you still reading?

see, i remember that my former employer, actually my boss’ boss got a
whole lotta press by signing off and taking credit for a report that said,
basically “if you are going to relaunch your site, put up a link to the
new site for a coupla weeks, you win on 2 fronts, the chumps that click
on the link do free testing, and 2) you don’t get angry old people telling
you that you didn’t warn them about the change”…although as i recall
the words “leverage” “synergy” “actionable” “monetize” and “brand action
marketing” were in there somewhere.
man i’m on a roll, so what about world events. well it looks like we
took over iraq. man, i dunno maybe some good could come out of this…ok
fuck politics, lets talk about me.
so i learned to day that the great edwin starr has left us. you’ll know
him from his 1971 anti war hit “war” covered by the incredible band, el
coche fantasico. I know him that way to. actually i hope to god he didn’t
find this site and hear the shitty ass version of his song that actually
did not follow the chord structure of his song and had a 123 pound (yes
i was lighter then) white boy from new england singing his soulful lyrics.
