making the world a bitter place

jefke’s big adventure

ah, spring time. the cyclical reminder that we are all young at heart,
and old in body. oh wait, i bet that’s just because with spring comes
my birthday.

So yesterday was a big day for me. Seeing that I had dipped below my
emergency preparedness level of booze reserves, I decided to walk to the
liquor store. Oh sure, there’s one across the street, but it’s pretty
ghetto and the prices suck. Given that i had just spent 9 hours in front
of the the computer i figured it’d be worth the exercise to walk the few
mile to the store and benefit from their increased selection. So I did
it. I walked past Hopkins’ and the Lacrosse hall of fame that i didn’t
know was there. It’s funny, having been harassed and once beat to a pulp
by lacrosse players, i suddenly had the urge to piss on the building,
but, i restrained myself, after all i’m over all of that now. (ahem).
On the walk i realized why i would make such a journey…well to get out
of the house for one, but for two, i realized that booze, besides the
sunsetting is the only thing that divides my work day from my non workday.
I stay in the same place, usually in the chair, in front of the same computer,
so to bust things up a bit, i throw back a couple belts. I picked up a
bottle of single batch whiskey which featured Willy Nelson as the spokesperson,
I dunno what to say about that, but what the hell it came with a free
autographed guitar pick wired to the neck. (sip) it’s not half bad. So
i took my basket full of good times to come to the counter and loaded
up my backpack. In the hopes of finding a shorter way home, I found 3
dead end streets, and eventually got back here, overly proud of myself
for my adventure. The apartment was empty and the cats were not impressed
with my epic tale. oh well. at least the booze love me.

So it turns out that the Certified Tax professional i used for my y2k1
taxes neglected to include my dole money on my return. I received a letter
from the MAN (read irs, and not REM’s record label) for 1200 bucks. good
thing i’m rolling it dough. (that was a joke people–is this thing on?)
well don’t you worry about us, we have new furniture on the way and i’ve
got a bid in on the blessed aeron. (why do i feel like the dad from say
anything all of a sudden?) i’ll let you know what happens.
