man oh man, has a lot happened. Lets see…we went to see the strokes with Warren and Sean the day before thanksgiving, I was an interesting show. Jimmy Fallon, of saturday nite live fame was one of the opening acts. I was truly amazed at the response of the hundreds, if not thousands of young girls that seem worship him. Which brings me to another point, it was some what unsettling to be the oldest people at the show, this reaffirms my desire to seek out bands that were formed before i was 18, thus ensuring that someone older than me will be at the show. well, that’s not totally true, there was a line of minivans and SUV’s full of parents waiting to pick kids up after the show. I think they were older than me. In terms of quality, it was probably the best sounding gig i’ve ever been too. the light show was pretty cool as well. The strokes played for just over an hour, which in retrospect was the perfect time. The were pretty tight, they played several new songs and the big hits (if you can call them that) off of their album. The lead singer guy gave some sort of lecture in the middle of the show and seemed to be either making fun of or hitting on a young girl in hot pants and one of those hats that the slick guy on fat albert used to wear (rudi?), During the last song he pulled her up on stage bruce spingstein style, and then other people jumped up and pranced around- motley crue style. jesus, i guess it’s impossible to do anything original anymore. show over, we headed to DC’s eerie-ily clean and punctual metro system and headed back to the basement in arnold.

After almost no sleep, as a result of our immediate neighbor’s boot knocking, we were up at 8 to get the fuck out of there. Uhaul posed the usual problems and delay, but around 11 or so, i was loading the truck. Sean was delayed in DC and arrived around 4, and we rolled out of there, leaving the cats behind to be retrieved later. Moving, by definition takes 2.3 times longer than you think, even when you double your gut estimate about how long it should take, and this was not exception. The first truck load seemed to go quickly enough, and we headed off to get our other stuff out of storage. What ensued was prolly one of the funnier situations of my life. Basically i tried to pull a 17th Uhaul in to an alley way that was about 6 inches wider than the truck. Sean was my navigator and spent about 20 minutes yelling “CUT IT HARDER” as i tried to get into the alley. Finally we accepted defeat and backed partially into the alley and decided to walk the boxes from the basement where they were being stored. This sounded like a good idea, but between the packs of seemingly rabid dogs restrained by 3 ft chain link fences in 6 of the backyards, coupled with the smashed pumpkin goo on the alley, and then finally the 10-15 HUGE rats we encountered–suffice to say it was a trying experience. But much like Ulysses, we eventually finished our task and made it home. We unloaded, returned the truck, and then headed back to arnold to get the kitties. Finally at around 3:30 we arrived back at the apartment, and i opened a bottle of Chateau neuf du pape-with which i had be so recently reunited. it tasted pretty fricking good.

Thanksgiving was quiet and tired, at natty’s mom’s house, naturally i cooked a perfect turkey, but hell, how could it be otherwise….hehehe…

Since then i’ve been commuting to the ISP and natty has taken a job at Williams Sonoma, which while it is retail yields a pretty sweet discount, so we can buy more stuff-heaven forbid our moves get any easier. One evening i decided to take mass transit from the ISP back up to baltimore. 3 hrs later i was on the famed balitmore light rail, and in a pretty foul mood. looks like that’s not going to happen again. on top of that i lost my PALM hat

This past thrusday, the east coast suffered through a snow storm, which dumped about 7.5 inches on maryland. Maryland is not used to snow, so everything shut down, which ws pretty cool, it was like a good old snow day in grade school. This gave me some time to unpack more, and prepare for the arrival of my DSL. It was at this point as well that we discovered that our downstairs neighbor loves the bass heavy rap, and i mean LOVES it. 8 hrs a day, bass is a thumpin, and given the solid nature of this building, i’m suspecting that it must be pretty damn loud in that apartment. We spoke with the building manager, it doesn’t seemed to have helped.

Friday night we went to a holiday party hosted by a neighbor of natasha’s mother. It’s been a long time since i saw random sample of adults totally loaded, it was very amusing. Everyone was very nice, and it was truly a collection of characters. One gentleman had the most interesting mini mullet i’ve ever seen, not quite long enough for full ‘hockey cut’ status, but defintely a mullet inspire hairstyle. very interesting indeed.

so that’s all the news. i’ll try to be a bit more regular going forward, things shoudl be settling down soon.
