another week

August 21st, 2002 · No Comments

Right, so another week. Last weekend was quite the summertime weekend. Friday we met with Melanie and Jon (her boyfriend…i think?) and wend to a baseball game, my 3rd ever-i think. Camden Yards is a newer stadium, very thoughtfully designed to bring out the best of classic baseball stadiums (or so i am told)…well i can tell you this, I felt like i could smack the ass of any player i wanted to (we were that close and we didn’t even pay that much) and yet at the same time there were 30 some odd thousand other people probaly thinking or repressing the very same thought. On top of that 20oz bud light drafter were a mere $5.75, and the nachos came with the perfect pickled hot peppers. Much fun was had even if they home team lost.

Saturday was a housewarming party for Melaine, i met a bunch of interesting people, got tanked and thanks to jon, i now know that you can make some kick ass treats with a muffin pan, some tortillas and some salsa. I got tanked and ended the evening with my famous “HI, i’m CHUNKY, my MOM IS CHUNKY, mY DAD IS CHUNKY….” physical comedy routine which i learned from my sisters when i was 11 years old. if you’ve seen it, you know it’s a classic. (read I embarrassed natasha and myself)

Sunday was a day at Six Flags amusement park. it was really really hot. thankfully it wasn’t as crowded as it could have been. what a strange scene though…take modern amusement park rides, through in very loud soft rock hits coming from speakers disguised as plastic rocks, and equal parts of rednecks and thuglife urban youths–and you have six flags america. and isn’t that what the US of Frickin’ A is all about, scary red necks and scary urban youths? I say yes, yes my friend it is. the rides ranged from kick ass to mediocre..the roller coasters were pretty cool. even with a hang over. The batwing was especially sweet, i do say…i finally realized that i have no fear whilst in an amusement park, i just have this crazy naive belief that if i’m strapped in, then nothing bad can happen….let’s see how long that lasts. Exhausted we cruised though the main drage of Bowie MD (pronouced Buoye) passing every possible strip mall store (sweet big box stores), and i was energized for another week of fielding/directing tech support, biling and customer service calls for MD’s preimier local technology provider (ok imagine that in my best phone voice…you can almost believe it, can’t you?).
