Well is was a good run while it lasted, man if I had a nickel for every time I said, “well I’ll never get to the end of my unemployment”. so I’ve picked myself up and headed to few temporary staffing agencies, and boy oh boy, is that a treat. First things first, I am officially a Master level user of MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Turn out that even after 3 years of intense IM usage I can only type 46 words a minute, well that with out mistakes, I think I’m about 120 if you don’t count errors.
I will say this though, It is refreshing to have all the young “staffing associates” oooh and ahh over my resume, “belgium? how exciting!”

So after some research, I have discovered that I really am King of the losers: It turns out that over the last 11 or so months I have applied to about 170 jobs, which have yielded about 10 or so face to face interviews, and maybe about 10 more phone interviews. I have not received one job offer other than my new temp job as first tier phone support and receptionist for a local MD ISP. ahh reception, the front line of the business world. the gateway between the corporation and it’s mass markets. Yes, I will be given the weighty responsibility of directing the communications between the all important customer and the faceless cogs within cogs of a small corporation. Am I up for the task? I dare not say, but I will be in training for 8 hours tomorrow–that should help.
